atkins diet

Update

[info]elmo_the_cat went to the vet on Friday. His blood glucose level was on the low side of normal, so the Vet said that he could reduce his insulin dose to one unit of Lantus ONCE A DAY! Even better, if his blood glucose level is still low in a couple of weeks, he can go off the insulin completely. That means *no more* insulin shots for my little boy! Diabetic remission happens in about 20 percent of cats, and is considerably helped by following a strict Catkins diet of high-protein, low-carb cat grub. Elmo has been following this diet very strictly since he has come to live with me. On the other hand, my baby boy now weighs in over 15 pounds. I promised the vet that I would cut down on the amount of Purina DM I feed him....

I went to see 12th Night in Clark Park on Sunday. It was fun - we had a picnic like we used to have picnics in Central Park for Philharmonic concerts. [info]west_philly organizations need to schedule more community performances in Clark Park.

This weekend I am going to NYC to hang out with my friend Laura. She starts chemotherapy next week, which means no alcohol, which means we are going on a bender Friday and Saturday while we still can! I am hoping to get reservations at Artisanal, a great wine-and-cheese place. I was inspired by a Friday night outing with [info]sweetsatingirl and [info]njlexi to Tria, the Philadelphia variation. I had a couple glasses of a nice Pinot Noir, and some lovely cheeses. I can recommend La Tur, a creamy goat cheese.
