Global Creative Economy Convergence Summit

I saw Christo and Jeanne Claude at the Global Creative Economy Convergence Summit here in Philadelphia this week. They were pretty amazing - I did not realize that their 1980 Biscayne Bay project insipred the first environmental impact laws in the United States, but it did. Florida state lawmakers and Federal lawmakers were so aghast at the pink construction surrounding the islands off of Miami, that Environmental Impact legislation was developed to help control it. Every project that they do (including the Gates) takes years of planning because of all of the negotiating that they have to do to get permissions. They are currently working on a project in Colorado.

I also went on a tour of WXPN and World Cafe Live, a very cool collaboration between a major public radio station and a restaurant/night club owner. They have their hands in many new technology ventures, but have not thought hard about mobile distribution or playing around with their digital radio signal. I gave the Director of WXPN my card.
